ABOUT
Hello, and welcome to Our Sekai: a Project Sekai Travel Zine! This is a fanmade, unofficial charity zine centered around the game Project Sekai Colorful Stage. The focus of this zine is to showcase the characters of the game in our modern world. Since Miss Miku brought everyone together into their own sekai, we want to now invite them to experience the wonders of our sekai! Just as the vocaloid community has always been a place of welcome and openness, we hope to share the diverse beauty of our world through this zine. We would like to connect the charisma of our favorite ProSeka characters with the charms and cheers of cultural specialties worldwide. We hope you will join us in celebrating this colorful sekai that we all share together!ボカロはいつも優しく迎えてくれる場所なので、大好きなプロセカのキャラと世界の多様で美しい文化を合わせて、このファンアンソロジーではご参加者のみんなと一緒に私たちのカラフルな世界をお祝いしたいと思います。
This project aims to follow the characters of Project Sekai as they visit various places around the world! We hope to highlight unique cultural aspects of each place they travel, such as historical sites, festivals, cuisine, and fashion, among other things that our contributors would like to share. We ask that contributors only focus on places or cultures which they have personally experienced. Also, because the content will be based on personal experiences of the contributors, we would like to emphasize that we are not experts in any of the cultures that will be featured in the zine, and our content should be regarded as appreciative rather than informative. Thank you for visiting!ご覧いただきありがとうございます。
FAQ
What is a Zine?
A zine is a fanmade, unofficial magazine in which creators come together to collaborate and produce works inspired by a certain theme or media. Zines can include artwork, photography, narrative, poetry, and more!
What is this Zine about?
This zine focuses on characters in Project Sekai Colorful Stage taking part in various cultural activities throughout the world. We would especially like to see emphasis on local specialties such as clothing, food, or festivals.
Is this Zine SFW or NSFW?
This will be a strictly SFW zine.
Will there be any NSFW add-on?
There will be no NSFW aspects of this project.
Is this a physical or a digital zine?
Our goal is to release a physical version of this zine! But at the very least, this zine will include a digital PDF as well as various digital merch items. We will also create a free PDF side zine in which all qualified applicants are eligible to participate!
How will contributors be compensated?
All digital items will be guaranteed to contributors. If possible, we would like to provide contributors with complete coverage on full bundles, but if not, they will be able to make their purchases at production price.
How many contributors will be accepted?
We are recruiting 25-30 page artists, 5-6 merch artists, and 5-6 writers. Page artists will also be able to work with writers to create spot art. Cosplayers may also apply as merch artists or page artists.
Where will the funds go?
All profit will be donated to a charity of the mods’ choice, on the theme of promoting diversity and inclusivity.
Will ships be allowed?
This zine will show only platonic relationships. If contributors would like to showcase a romantically-themed festival or cultural activity, it is possible as long as the Project Sekai characters are not directly involved in the romantic aspect. (For example, Project Sekai characters attending a public wedding is allowed.)
Can contributors partner up?
Absolutely! Artists and writers will collaborate for spot-art and may come up with additional opportunities to join efforts. We hope contributors could use this opportunity to learn about a new culture.
Is it possible to apply for multiple positions?
You may apply for any and all positions, but you will only be accepted for one position.
Will the zine be available in other languages?
We intend to offer the zine in English and Japanese. If a mod or contributor who is able to translate becomes available for other languages, we will do our best to include them in the project.
What kinds of places will be featured in the zine?
We hope to include regions of the world which are not already explored by the game’s canon, so in other words, we are especially interested in seeing countries outside of Japan and the United States.
What kinds of cultural aspects will be featured in the zine?
We hope to especially showcase local specialties such as food, clothing, and festivals, but we are open to other suggestions.
Could I still apply even if I don’t have experience in cultures outside the USA or Japan?
Yes, please apply! If it’s necessary, you could be partnered with someone who does have experience, and hopefully you could learn something new.All qualified applicants will be able to contribute to the PDF side zine, so works featuring the USA or Japan will be included there as well.
ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS
Do you plan on making sure both your moderation team and your contributor lineup includes QT + BIPOC artists and writers?
We aspire to build a mod and contributor team that is as diverse as possible! As things stand right now, the current mod team already includes QT + POC members who are active in related volunteer activities internationally. The makeup of the team depends on the people interested in applying, so we cannot guarantee all bases will be covered, but we will do our best to maximize inclusivity on all aspects of the project.
When is the due date for art?
Right now, the creation period is scheduled for August 11 to September 30th, so art submissions would be due on September 30th! This is tentative and likely to change, since this time frame is quite short for a creation period.
Can you use 3d models to reference poses on the art?
Using 3d models as pose reference is okay as long as the material is from an open-access source and all resources are properly credited!
